Prayer Shawl Ministry
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
A prayer shawl is a soft, warm shawl, knitted or crocheted, which are often given to people who are ill, have suffered a loss, or are in the midst of crisis. However, anyone may receive a prayer shawl, if he or she desires. Before the shawl is delivered, it is prayed over by the ministry team member who created it and a pastor.
Some prayer shawls are knitted and others crocheted…and even though a pattern is provided to create prayer shawls, the hands of those who offer their time and talent are like no other. Thus, each prayer shawl is a unique gift of love.
Not handy with knitting or crocheting needles? You can still help! Here are a few other ideas to support the Prayer Shawl Ministry:
- Donate yarn – Lion Brand Homespun (three skeins per shawl)
- Donate money to purchase yarn ($15 per shawl)
- Pray for those making and receiving shawls
- Suggest names of people to receive shawls
- Volunteer to deliver a shawl
